Little is known of Charles William Oakman, other than he married Elsie May Loyer at the age of 26. In 1956 they were living at 25 Shuter Street in Moonee Ponds and were living at 138 Street, East Brunswick by the time Charles died in 1959.
Charles suffered from "Cerebral Thrombosis" and died at the Austin Hospital in Heidelberg on 1 June 1959. His funeral was held at Our Lady Help of Christians Church, Nicholston St, East Brunswick at 7.30am on Thursday 4 June and he was buried at Coburg Cemetery with Elsie's brother. Elsie was later buried with him. Their grave can be found in the Church of England section, grave number G126.

When Elsie died in 1968, she was still living at 138 Nicholson St, East Brunswick. From Probate records it is known that her home was valued at $13,000.00 and she had about $1600 in the bank at the time of her death. She had appointed her friend Hannah Jane Leach of 87 Hickford St, East Brunswick as executrix and left her estate to her two widowed sisters, Queenie Ellen Edwards of 1 Mentone Parade, Mentone and Olive Thompson of Main St, Lang Lang. Her will was dated 16 July 1964.
