Thomas and Catherine (Mary) lived in the Clifton Hill area - 1922 at 28 Council Street, 1940 at 26 Spensley Street and from about April 1943 at 12 Noone Street, Clifton Hill.

Thomas and Catherine saw their son, Thomas Roy, enlist for duty in WWII. He served for just over three years as a Stores Clerk in Melbourne.

Thomas died following a "Cerebral Vascular Accident" on 30 May 1949. Like other Oakman's, he had been suffering from Arteriosclerosis for many years. He was buried at Preston Cemetery in grave number M-10812. Catherine died in 1958 and was buried with her husband.
